Future of Gaming Prt.1

Well as everyone should know I like games.
Yes I know its a crime that I can have a good time and be totally absorbed by this wonderful type of entertainment and have a passion to look under its hood to see how it works.

I’m currently working on developing my skills in the big world of game development and working hard to learn the basics of this wonderful world that is growing faster then anything else at this time.
For gaming there is always more and new ways of developing many people around the world are right now, as you read this, breaking there heads on finding new ways on how people will interact with next-gen worlds and what there options are.
I’m also one person that is breaking his head from time to time on this subject to find new ways and to look how games can and maybe should evolve into more then just pressing a button on the correct time to get a kill or picking up a coin.

Some time ago I had a little chat with a person that is currently active in creating new games.
He has some really good ideas where games can invest more time on and where some games are already working on to develop.
Here is a small example of this maybe new type of system for games to give the players the feeling not to only be in a living world but also gives them the power to interact with this world on a level not yet seen in games.

For this example to be a bit more easy to work with on the mind I’m taking a pretty milked concept of a game and adding the options a player could have to it to give you a feel on how this could be like in a game.
You are going to be inside of the skin of a soldier in the second world war.
You are a German soldier that is inside a French town that is half destroyed and have a pistol to defend yourself against the mean American soldiers hunting you down.

Alright so your walking around in the world and the world around you is alive because of the birds flying over and the wind blowing and hey its starting to rain.
Now this in general is nothing new there have lots of games that have this already.
You keep walking trying to find your friends that can help you in the fight but hey whats that the rain has soaked the mud and its getting harder to walk because your boots are getting stuck in the mud.
You hear the enemy coming closer and closer and you don’t see a way to get away from them by walking anymore because its hard to move forward.

Now it is up to the player to be creative but your not playing so ill be creative for you.
You drop down and start to roll in the mud.
This is a way to get a natural camouflage and you can hide next to a building or any object for that matter and get less noticed by other players.
To bad you left footprints the Americans notice it and shoot you in your head! *PANG!*

This gives you a fairly simple interaction with the world around you and it gives players endless options on doing simple but still creative actions to get a small advantage.

This is only one example of many ideas there are on this way of giving players a new level of interaction and its also fairly easy to add this sort of option to a game coding wise.

This is just a idea for a shooter type of game but there are also ways to get them to work on other type of games that have different sorts of world rules.

But in development this should be thought about wisely, because it will add a lot of obstacles in programming and also take more time and money and could tend the developers to lose the main goal of the game, witch is Fun.
